Embarassing consumption

I had the dubious pleasure of being in Fair Oaks mall in Fairfax on Wednesday night to meet some people and walked by this ad that set off my latent hippie genes. Seriously, that’s your advertising technique? Forget those dirty clothes, just buy new ones!

I feel like I should go eat granola and wear hemp, I find this so disturbing.

Wow. yah. I’m not even a hippie and I find this tres disturbing. Next thing ya know, there’ll be lingerie stores for children, disposable dining, "songs" (for adults) about barbies, and a "aww, poor kids" commentary on EVERY news channel about how sad it is that the polygamist children have NEVER been to mcdonalds!!! or watched TV!!! They eat healthy stuff!!!

    oh wait… :)

great post (and great site, I’m a newbie, but i’ll be back)

In all honesty, I’ve been known to run into Filene’s Basement to purchase undies and t-shirts to put off doing laundry. So maybe the ad firm is targeting people like me.

Though I do think they’re missing the mark with this particular campaign.
