Code Pink Hands Get in Condi’s Face

Wonkette alerts us to a bloody-handed protester attempting to smear Condi Rice with fake blood just before a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing today, only to be dragged off by security.

This immediately got me wondering whether the protester in question, named Desiree Farooz, is local. A quick search shows that she isn’t, as she was previously interviewed on SHALOMSALAAMPEACE as being bused in by Code Pink from Texas. Now we know what she was on that bus for.

This is where I nod my head to Wayan’s beat.

Look, I like Rice as little as the next person for her involvement with The Coup, but this is just as bad as that asshole who tried to hand Bill Clinton an aborted fetus back in the 90’s.

The protestor didn’t actually try to smear blood on Rice. If you look at the video she easily could have if she had wanted to … which doesn’t speak well of the security’s effectiveness.

maybe desiree just misses "the big house".

i googled her name, and it turns out she’s been in jail before for what a colleague of hers calls "a pretty bogus charge".

sounds like jail and bogusness play a pretty big role in her visionquest….

The interesting bit on that video is at 0:19 when you see the police dragging off two women from the audience. What did they do? Neither seems to be the one who was holding up the signs while Farooz was being escorted out and there are others in the audience with CP tshirts and crowns so it’s not just that association.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about in how Ms. Farooz was handled? In some countries, she would have been shot…dead…for pulling a stunt like that especially against a high ranking government official. Personally…I was hoping for Condi to haul off and knock her pretentious ass out!

Actually what I love about the video is you can actually see Condoleeza Rice roll her eyes and say "oh please" and then as the Capitol Police are dragging out the other protestors in waiting, you can hear her chatting to someone "Oh, it’s nice to see you. How are you?" like she’s at a garden party.
