Woman Holds Up I-66

crazylady.jpg Apparently getting out of town on I-66 was worse than usual tonight, with a woman parking her car on the road, sitting or standing on top of her car and yelling at the world, including some serious bird-flipping, according to one of our folks that sat in the mess. She had two kids in her car that the State Troopers managed to get out of the car, as well, before she was arrested at 6:30.

Traffic was dead still, though, from 6 until the scene was cleared up, and the woman was arrested.

Anyone see this? Pictures? From what I hear, she went buck nutty…

[Update] Thanks much to Neil who got this photo, which I cropped and put in this entry.

i saw this on my way home from work. got off the bus and onto the upper platform at WFC. saw a bunch of people milling around the windows facing EB I-66, and bit the bait and decided to see what they were looking at. sure enough, there was the crazy woman, dancing on her car while a VDOT guy and a cop looked on with seeming bewilderment. her kids just played in the dirt, as if nothing at all was going on. apparently they are used to mom going insane.

I was able to catch a picture of her with my iphone. The quality is terrible, but wow. what a scene.

Pretty good photo from a cell phone.

She’s pretty hot! Did you get her number? Oh wait, she’s got kids.

I saw this too, kinda crazy… I didn’t think the kids were playing because they were in that position (as shown) the entire time, not really moving. There was also a black vehicle in front of the car, that appeared to be an unmarked DC cop. I wonder why the cops let her continue for so long(I was watching for at least 15 -20 minutes).

If I had to guess, I would expect that they let her go on because she’s pretty clearly unstable and they didn’t want to escalate the situation by rushing in and tackling her- I expect they were trying to avoid a situation in which she ran out into traffic, assaulted another driver, or harmed the kids.

Those kids don’t look like they are playing, more like curled up in a ball wishing their Mom wasn’t off her meds in public.

At least she took off her shoes before she roof-danced to save the paint job.

Well, the fact that she let her young kids out of the car, instead of keeping them in the car where it would probably be safer, shows that she is not stable. Those kids are probably trying to hide from embarrassment. Imagine how the husband/father must have felt when he heard about it on the news.

I saw this as I was getting off the Metro at West Falls Church. It was insane. She was laying on the car with her legs in the air spread open. At another point she was dancing. I didn’t see the children but I do feel sorry for them.

I saw this yesterday. She obviously had been doing it for a while when I got there, because there was one of those trucks with a flashing arrow pulled up behind the cop cars and the Accord. And the kids were definitely balled up and not moving, not playing in the dirt.

It should be clarified that the incident was on the inbound (eastbound) side of I-66, not outbound as the post states.

I saw it too, but only after the cops got the kids into the patrol car. She kept yelling something over and over toward the end – anyone hear what it was?
