Breaking News: Building Partially Collapses in Rosslyn

map.gif WTOP reports the partial collapse of a high-rise under construction at the corner of N. Lynn Street and 19th Street, just before the Key Bridge. North Lynn Street is closed between Lee Highway (Route 29) and Wilson Boulevard impeding the morning commute of many.

Currently, it’s unclear as to the severity of injuries suffered nor if any fatalities occurred. Fire marshals plan to hold a 10:30 a.m. press conference, stay tuned for more news as it happens.

Update: 10:19 a.m.: WTOP reports that several construction workers are currently trapped in a portion of the high-rise that collapsed.

    I remember that site from my visit to see the Berlin Wall exhibit. I walked by it on my way back to the Metro station around the corner. The reason I remember? It was very windy that day and sand kicked up from the construction was stinging my face and blinding me.

    I hope the workers make it out safe.
