And the wheels underneath her…

plate.jpg If you’re like our Don and enjoy playing the plate game (your plate game may vary) on long, or short road trips, then perhaps this offering will amuse you. Unfortunately, none of my friends were able to guess the meaning of the plate, but once told, had fun discussing the humour behind it.

Many people think that only pretentious arseholes have personalized license plates, if that’s the case, colour me a pretentious arsehole. I enjoy seeing personalized plates on vehicles, and often get a kick out of trying to figure out what the hell they mean (“MAB A FI”) anyone? I know of a few plates roaming the roads of Virginia that often make me smile when I see them. Plates such as “KOP”, “LIVERBRD” or “LIVERPOL” make me smile because they’re all references to Liverpool Football Club. Other plates I might spy, such as “On-On” or “H3” are references to Hashing, not the new Hummer. Plates often express a passion and if I see plates that express an interest of my own I feel a connection with a passing stranger. I’ve had people comment on my own personalized plate and ended up in twenty minute conversations about trail running whilst pumping petrol. It’s also how I discovered my new favourite trails for my Sunday morning runs.
