A Seinfeld Moment
You know me, I’m the type of guy who likes to go to new restaurants as soon as they open in order to retain my street cred as a cutting edge scenester. So I’m at India Curry House the other day, which just opened across from the Clarendon Metro. I kinda had a Seinfeld moment. Remember that episode where Jerry goes into Babu’s restaurant and there isn’t anyone there and he feels all magnanimous and charitable because he’s the only customer? It was like that. I got to talking to the owner and he seemed really depressed that very few people had eaten there in his first week. I thought about some advice I might have given him, like maybe Clarendon didn’t need a 4th Indian restaurant, but if I learned one lesson from sitcom tv, it’s that meddling never helps the situation. So I just wished him luck and gave him a relatively big tip.
But if you are in the area, and Delhi Club is closed for some reason, give this new place a chance. It wasn’t half bad, despite the fact that it’s this guy’s first restaurant. Plus, it’s the only Indian place I’ve been to in a long time that has beef on the menu. So if you’ve ever wondered what beef vindaloo tastes like, here’s your chance.
Hey Chris, if they have good naan and decent tandoori chicken, I’m there.
!!! When did you start writing here? Did I miss some big announcement??
I can vouch for India Curry House as well… and yes, I was the only customer for a little while.
