Not cool…
NBC4 ran a story about a guy who was glued to a toilet seat at a Denny’s restaurant in Salisbury, MD early Sunday morning. The article points out that the police are thinking this to be some kind of April Fool’s joke. Talk about a shitty predicament… Personally, I don’t find much humor in the prank and I can’t even begin to imagine what I would do if I were faced with the same situation. This surely can’t be good for the already lawsuit riddled restaurant chain. Anyone foresee another Maryland lawsuit against Denny’s? I mean, what would you do?
It seems to me that the first rule of a good practical joke is that the victim ought to be able to laugh at it afterwards- no bodily harm, no property damage, any embarrassment suffered should be in front of your friends, not strangers or coworkers, etc.
Covering a friend’s cubicle with tin foil or post-its: Funny. Gluing a stranger’s ass to a toilet seat: So Not Funny.
Reminds me of the guy glued to a toilet seat in a Home Depot. Wasn’t that revealed to be a scam?
Who sits down on a public toilet without SOME kind of check first? Like a quick wipe with TP or even the big round tissue template that many bathrooms provide. Sheesh…
It is hard to believe it’s not a scam; most fast-acting adhesives don’t stay good long – superglue/cyanoacrylate reacts to moisture so the humidity will harden it before long. Anything that doesn’t bond using moisture would likely pull (albeit painfully if you’re a hairy dude) off sweaty skin. And I can’t imagine anything that would be MORE likely to make me break a sweat than the idea of being glued to a public toilet…
