I read this news about Vice President and Lynne Cheney giving $2.7 million to GW Hospital in a donation and thought “hmmm, how do I feel about this?” Although at first I giggled – I’m not sure why, it just sort of made me giggle – I’ve since decided that I really like the idea for one main reason: because it’s naming something after someone that wasn’t stupid legislation that took taxpayer time and money.

Some will say it’s for the tax break and I say, hey, I don’t care. It’s still giving. The Cheney’s get something named after them and they didn’t have to get a Member to stuff the naming into some atrocious spending bill. So, as a GW graduate school alum, and who knows, maybe a patient of GW Hospital at some point (I mean, let’s hope not though!), I think it was a generous move.
