Start hating Baltimore early

This morning, tickets go on sale for the March 31 exhibition game between our hometown Nationals and Baltimore’s Orioles. They are calling it the Battle of the Beltway, but it should really be called the Battle of the Beltways because Balmer’s I-695 is a Beltway too. While it is probably too late for that to change, it is not too late to get tickets, in fact it is still a little early:

Tickets for the March 31 Battle of the Beltway contest at RFK Stadium will go on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the RFK Stadium Box Office (adjacent to RFK’s main entrance). The RFK Box Office’s normal business hours — Monday-Friday, noon-5:00 p.m. — will resume the following day.
Fans interested in purchasing tickets can also do so by calling (888) 632-NATS(6287) from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tickets are also available via the internet at www.nationals.com.
All proceeds from the March 31 game will go towards the newly established Washington Nationals Foundation. Last season’s exhibition game, which took place on April 3 vs. New York (NL), raised approximately $550,000 for the Washington Nationals Foundation.

It may not count in the standings, but it does count for charity. Also, any chance to boo the Orioles, who are directly subsidized by the Nationals (a unique situation in all of sports), is one that should be embraced. The real series is May 19 – 21. Regular season tickets go on sale, Saturday, March 4 at 10:00 a.m.
