Cell Bandit Confesses

Well, our beloved Cell Phone Bandit has confessed to four bank robberies. Turns out it was her boyfriend that she was talking to on that cellphone, he was her getaway driver. What’s really sad about the whole thing is her family had no idea that she had turned to crime, as they sent her here to go to college.

My mother told me once or twice that she worried about sending people to DC, that somehow the girls would end up power hungry and sleeping with politicians for influence, and how this whole town could corrupt just with the mere touch. This will only perpetuate those DC myths. Great.

Wait, are you saying in DC, “girls would end up power hungry and sleeping with politicians”? Damn! I’m in the wrong field! – Me for Mayor!!

On a less glib note, its sad to hear what happened to her. It really does sound like she got in with the wrong guy. I bet that will be her defense too – he made me do it.

Check out the robbers take though. The Post was quoting an “expert” saying they would get $1-3k, but really they were making out with much more. From the Post article:

They made off with $14,700. Then someone went on a spending spree, according to authorities. Detectives searching Martinez’s Chantilly apartment found a $3,685.21 Circuit City receipt dated Oct. 13 — the day after the Vienna robbery, according to court records. Police found a Sony personal computer, a digital camera, a computer printer, three Louis Vuitton purses and the box for a T-Mobile cell phone.

Oh and I can tell you one thing she dropped cash on – her eyebrows. Check out a close-up of her eyebrows in the mug shot – now that’s sculpting!

what’s worse, asking for $75k and getting $14k? or the expert saying they got $3k and they actually got $14k?
