Hmmm, I wonder how many dresses Diana brought with her… I doubt it was less than 50. ;)

Seriously, I don’t think it’s the royals per se doing the inappropriate PR. The British press are notorious for making a big deal out of this sort of thing. It seems to me that if anything the royals are making the conscious attempt NOT to compare this visit with the famous one with Diana years ago, or to overcast it in any way. ‘That was then, this is now. He’s happy with Camilla. Let it go.’ As Diana’s boys clearly agree.

Our own WashPost has been running a series of pretty level-headed articles (that you’ll probably think are pro-Camilla, Stacey ;) that I think have nicely outlined some of the pitfalls and issues with the visit.

Anyway, it certainly lacks the glamour of the last visit. And maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

For what it matters, which is not much, Camilla did not, repeat not, bring fifty dresses. That is just silly. And while we are on the subject, insulting her is a reflection on every middle aged woman in the world, whose first youthful beauty has departed. Leave her alone. Diana is, mercifully, dead. Charles got on with his life, get on with yours and find something worthwhile to write about.

Wow, Bill, a little harsh there! Most of the post was tongue-in-cheek, so breathe bro, breathe. A more careful read will reveal how I didn’t insult Camilla (and wouldn’t – I don’t have any reason to) – I talked about the royal family, the piece that is linked to in the post, and the dresses – which was reported on in several different pubs, so since I’m not traveling with them (who knows, maybe you are and that’s why you know more about her outfits, which is cool), I sort of have to go by wide reports, ya know?

Regardless, I even said I think Camilla is fine, she should be her own person – and I’m glad Charles is happy. Glad is strong since I don’t know these folks and don’t really care about them… but you catch my drift (maybe).

Lastly, I think she already is beautiful, that’s you inserting your own opinion.

p.s. Bill – clearly the post was, er, “worthwhile” enough for you to comment on.
