apa film festival starts tomorrow 10.6

the 6th annual asian pacific american film festival kicks off tomorrow at the landmark e street theater. tickets are hard to get, but they’ll setup a rush line — any unclaimed tix will be released 10 minutes before showtime (6:50 PM). and a film fest wouldn’t be right w/o opening night partIES — one on thurs night, fri and sat to celebrate the opening weekend (a bit of overkill?).

i’m actually excited about friday’s gig w/ p.i.c., a funkadelic-boombastic band that’s been the house band on comedy central’s premium blend w/ wanda sykes. p.i.c.’s music is featured in that evening’s film, slow jam king.

the apa film fest has come along way and every year is getting bigger and better. films are featured at several venues throughout the week including: AFI, Landmark E Street, Regal Chinatown, National Museum of American History, Canadian Embassy, Chinatown Service Center, Freer Gallery and Goethe-Institut.
