Bolstering the backcourt
The Washington Wizards have signed Antonio Daniels, a 6-4 combo guard to a five-year $30 million contract. This all but confirms that former Terp Juan Dixon will continue his playing career elsewhere.
Some of Dixon’s shortcomings as a ballhandler and a consistent shooter were exposed in the playoffs. Additionally, Daniels is a better passer and can run a team more effectively. Daniels was a former lottery pick from Bowling Green University.
The Wizards seem to have completed their upgrades in the backcourt and along the perimeter. All that remains is finding a strong inside player to back up Antawn Jamison. Gaining depth behind Jamison, Etan Thomas, Brendan Haywood and hopefully Michael Ruffin will make this a very productive off-season.
