Come as your favorite sing-along song

It’s Monday night and I am tipsy. Tipsy from all the cheap booze poured in my glass by the hot boys of DC. Yes, you heard that right, I said “hot boys” and I mean it. Tonight I was at the epicenter of manly men in DC, the one, the only, the JR’s Bar and Grill on 17th Street.

Now why would a straight man like me be hanging out in a gay bar on a Monday night? For show tunes of course! Every Monday, JR’s treats your inner gay man to five hours of sing-along show tunes starting at 9pm. Show tunes the whole bar will break into song with you on.

While I showed my straight colors and blanked on Linda Eder and Donna Summer, I did hold my own with the classic Sound of Music and Tina Turner. Of course I channeled my 80’s kid and belted out the Brady Bunch theme song and Footloose soundtrack with abandon.

I didn’t abandon all sanity though, and easily beat back the advances of a vapid intern. Craig, get a clue, I don’t play for your team.

One of my sing-along buddies just wrote:

I had a blast last night too. Who knew that people actually go out and have fun on a school night!! It was great to meet Daryll, and I had fun hanging out with cute birthday boy Troy.Good posting, and Craig deserved it! He’s just lucky you didn’t post the part about “I don’t make a lot of money as an intern, but I’m rich!”

    Woops! I just did!

A much better night at JR’s is all you can drink. My ex-girlfriend used to drag me there with all her gay boys. If you don’t mind the occasional groping, you can pretty much drink for free.

Evil did not say whether he enjoyed the groping — or whether it was by his EX-girlfriend. Hmmm.
