Meet the Wizards: Washington Opens Tonight

This was the scene at Monday Nights “Meet the Wizards” night at the Newseum.  The crowd was pretty pumped and surprisingly full (as you can see-I had to go to the third floor to take the picture) for the opportunity to…well…meet the Wizards.  After a fairly quick press conference introducing the players and coaches, ticketed fans got to get in lines for some signed memorabilia and pictures with the players.

Of note-Agent Zero seemed to be walking pretty well for a guy who just had surgery on his knee.  Of course I am neither an expert on knee surgery or how Gilbert Arenas walks…so take that for what you will.

Also-I felt bad for the Wizard Girls (that’s what they are called on the site) who-while looking lovely in their short skirt, small top and boots numbers-were unfortunately and unfairly place right next to the door leading outside.  Monday was such a cold night that the poor girl at the end was barely able to smile with every gust that came in and out of the hallway.

The Washington Wizards take on the Nets of New Jersey to open their season this evening at the Verizon Center.

…and no, I didn’t hear Steve Buckhantz say “NOT POSSIBLE!” or “DAGGER

I went to that event too! I handed Gilbert my phone and he talked with my friend.

update: it has nothing to do with dc girls. i forgot the skins cheerleaders are really hot (big time improvement since Danny took over). must be the wiz mgmt needs glasses or forgot what hot looks like. here is a related story:

You would think that would be Ben Roethlisberger’s biggest fear. After all, with the offensive line he’s playing behind this season, and his tendency to hold on to the ball, he’s been getting killed all season. Despite that, though, going into their game against the Redskins this Monday night Ben’s not worried about being broken in half. He’s worried about those Redskins cheerleaders.

“I’m not a big fan of playing there because it is loud, they’re really good at home and they try to make their cheerleaders stretch in our tunnel before we come out of the locker room. That’s just not good,” Roethlisberger said yesterday.

The practice by the Redskins cheerleaders was so legendary around the league that when commissioner Roger Goodell sent out a memo to all teams last year banning the practice some dubbed the “Redskins Rule.”

The Wizards Gals are much better looking in person, IMHO.
