Liking the coffee, liking the staff, and liking the atmosphere are not dependent on also liking their bookkeeping habits, tomswift. I can like a lot of things about a place and be frustrated with their financial practices at the same time.

Since they won't be allowed to reopen unless they pay those taxes I would think the implied support of DC would be pretty evident.

The fact that you speak endearingly about Murky and hope for it to reopen, despite their demonstrated propensity to not be a good corporate citizen and pay their tax bills on time and in full, makes me question your commitment to the DC community.

That's too bad, but it's to Nick's credit that he's being communicative with the public and owning up to his own culpability in the matter. I think it also speaks well of him that (from what he has written in other blog posts) while he clearly wishes he'd had more luck getting access to the DC government and some assistance from them, he's not playing the woe-is-me little-guy big-government card as so many people do in such cases.

Good luck, Murky. I hope Nick can work this out and hire a business manager who will stay on top of this stuff in the future.
