 Some (most) of these parties are government/defense industry sponsored.  Where are they getting the money? From taxpayers... You already paid once for the booze, best to go drink it up.  Additionally most of these galas are PR affairs, so that people can go booze it up and leave feeling better about &quot;Soybean Growers of America&quot;, etc.  It doesn&#039;t violate any free market principle to get something someone is giving away...  If companies/gov&#039;t agencies are that concerned maybe they should give invitations?</description>
