Fire Drill Thursday
Coming back to the office after a morning errand run, look what I found occupying my office sidewalk: a fire drill party.
With a week’s warning, the drill was not unexpected and the timing was not bad either. In fact its a great excuse to go for lunch.
What do you do for your Fire Drill Party Time?

I tend to either hide under my desk until it’s all over or else go to one of the fifty bars in a three-block radius. I am in Bethesda, you know – this is where bars live if they can’t find residence in Dupont Circle.
Here in Arlington, my office’s fire drill was furnished with ice cream over the summer. But we’ve only done it once since I’ve been here.
So remember how I just said we had a fire drill during the summer and got ice cream? Here’s some irony: not much longer after posting my first comment, the fire alarms went off. Sadly, no ice cream this time, even though today would have been perfect for a Strawberry Short Cake Good Humor Bar.
The fire alarms went off in my Tyson’s Corner office today, too. Must be that kind of day …
Unfortunately, ours went off right while I was in the middle of taping an audio news release for radio stations. I had to start over 20 minutes later, after we were allowed back into the building. And, we didn’t get ice cream either.
