Yeah, admittedly it’s my own fault for not looking closely enough at the requirements and seeing that “any government-issued photo ID” like an out-of-state license is a secondary document needing another birth-dated mode of identification, but still, for her not to notice a birth date on a driver’s license?

Max – Didn’t realize you were referring to your own experience. I went to the Georgetown DMV once, and it was fine, so maybe she was off that day.

I don’t know how convenient it is for you, but I’ve had nothing but good experiences at the 95 M St SW location.

Jon: I recently made a trip to the Georgetown DMV and had a run-in with Ms. Rudeness. She turned me away claiming that I had a lapse of insurance on a car that I’d traded in over a year ago. I couldn’t renew my current car’s registration without proof otherwise. So I had to make two painful trips and noticed how rude this lady was towards everyone she dealt with.

Perhaps you should go to dmv.dc.gov BEFORE going out to Georgetown next time.

I have to say, while I want the DMV to actually be ready to do business when they open for business, the Virginia DMV does a pretty good job of making things fairly painless, at least as far as government services go.

The online wait time indicators aren’t perfect but they’re highly useful if you are close enough to the office to watch them for a good time to go. The online services are pretty good, and the drive through renewal window is great if you can use it.

I think pretty much every state’s DMV requires ID other than your current license.

That lady at the desk is vicious! She’s the DMV Nazi. When she says no, no, no…she calls the security guard before saying her fourth no. She’s a wicked individual who likes to weild her power over the little people.
