Saw this heartbreaking sight on my way to the Foggy Bottom Trader Joe’s yesterday afternoon. There isn’t even a note on the windshield, so whoever snagged onto this poor guy’s bumper must have run off. Our deepest condolences.
strange. that’s no normal ding on the bumper while someone was trying to parallel park, i wonder how they hit that car’s bumper for it to come loose and break away so far from the car.

Looks to me like someone passed a little too close to the car while turning left.

Wow! One of my very good friends did EXACTLY that to her own Hyundai, same color and everything, a mere four days before her wedding. Turns out the Hyundai, not so much with the well made bumpers attaching to the cars. All she had to do was nick the corner of the bumber on a pole as she was backing out of a parking space and the sucker tore right off, plastic brackets and all. Cost her $3000 to replace too!
The amount of money it costs to replace auto bumpers is almost criminal. However in fairness to Hyundai with regards to your friend’s incident, the most important thing is that the bumper help protect your health on an impact, not survive a hook & pull. But that fragility really ought to be matched by inexpensive (or at least more so than that!) replacement & repair.

As you were: while turning right.
Uncool.
