After a weekend in SC's "low country" its good to be back. In fact, after the flight cancellations, and overnights to get there and return, its almost not worth the effort to leave DC.

i work for the state department. whenever i go out west, they ask, "what state do you work for?."

when i worked for the agriculture dept. i used to check into hotels, and their kitchen would always get notice that they were up for inspection. heck, i worked for the international section of the dept.

just goes to show how folks outside dc have no clue, and that's pretty evident by the way they vote. :o/

it's good to get out and see what the regular joe thinks about the decisions/work that's being done in our nation's capitol. it's easy for us to think that everyone around the country knows about what's happening in their capitol. fact is, they don't. it's all about lindsey lohane, spears, etc.

it's good to leave and come back with a solid personal mandate to serve the american people.

it's also nice to get away, but for that, i leave the american shores. preferably to an island with a dinky bar and empty beaches...

Leaving DC is such a breath of fresh air. You get outside the beltway, suddenly politics isn't the Big Deal it is here. No one cares who you work for, no one cares which party you're in, no one cares about all that jazz.

It's a nice vacation from the mental state...
