I agree with Victoria -- zucchini bread is a must -- great at any time of year, but is a great way to use your summer bounty. Also, deep fried breaded zucchini sticks with some ranch dressing for dipping -- maybe throw in some fried mushrooms, too -- I could make a meal off those. These and other great recipes can be found here http://www.foodnetwork.com/

I generally grill my zucchini, slice it into planks, coat with olive oil and some spices, then grill to it softens a bit.

WAY yummy. We did that with some farmers market zuc's on Sunday.

Use half of it for zucchini bread - yummy. Get yourself some yellow squash and use the rest of the zucchini to make this yummy baked dish:

Sliced yellow squash and zucchini, fresh or canned tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, pepper and a bit of fresh chopped garlic. Bake at 350 until the squash is tender, then sprinkle it with cheddar cheese. Bake until the cheese is melted and just starting to brown. Then enjoy! It's one of my favorite dishes to make!

there's also the H street farmers market, or the DC farmers market (aka Florida avenue market), or even the market in bloomingdale for those of us who actually live within the boundaries of the district. there are some amazing deals at these markets, and they're not as crowded as the ones in the burbs.

Courthouse is a great market. There is plentiful free parking in the lot across from 2000 N. 14th Street. Old Town Alexandria is not in the same league, but Del Ray is.
ps. Make a couple loaves of zucchini bread. It freezes well.

It also has the distinct advantage of being relatively large. I used to go to the foggy bottom one quite regularly until I realized that the arlington one was much bigger and nicer. It also has more veggies.
