I have lived in Va. most of my life, I personally think its time that citizens of this state send a strong message to our money hungry politicians and remind them who they are supposed to be working for. this state needs a very clear housecleaning. AT the very least 86 ? need to go. Don't tell me thaat you are representing the people of Va. What you are doing is unconstutional, discriminating, and double taxing. There is no cure for stupid.

Traffic Dept :
I think the new traffic fines are draconian !
Futhermore I doubt whether the people they are aimed at - namely bad drivers have the money to pay them. Furthermore why are we limiting them to our own citizens and giving out of staters a pass,
if they want to come to our state I think its incumbent upon them to know and to obey our laws.
Furthermore I think the whole idea is to raise money for the dept of transportation and public safety be damned. If it was about public safety I'm sure more thought would have gone into trying to change the current laws to a more to be more reasonable rather than just raising the fines.
you can start out by chaning the amount of time
between changes of from red lihgts to green or yellow and do something on the other side. Red should not become instantly green. A person who is approaching a green light should be appised that it just turned green and to watch out for cars coming thru a possible yellow light that just turned red. that's the kind of thouhgt process that should take place if you wre indeed cocerned with traffic safety, rather than to just continue to bleed those of uis who don't have the kind of money the new fines call for.

While I don't have a problem w/ higher fines, the conflict of interest coupled with the separate and unequal situation that application of the law will bring about really add to my overall dislike of it. I signed.

In the past, driving on the roads in a state meant you agreed to abide by and be held to the traffic laws of that state. This law does away with that. Worse, it doesn't do it across the board, but in a piecemeal fashion.

If the legislature wants to raise fines, raise fines. Nobody can stop them until the next election. The addendum about out-of-state drivers confused me from the start. Aside from being an obvious and pathetic ploy to keep tourists coming to VA, it's blatantly unfair.
