The Very Best Banana Pudding, Ever.

I recognize that cellphone cams are certainly no way to produce quality food images, but I was so moved by the Banana Pudding at Carlyle Grand tonight that I just had to snap a photo. The pudding in the middle was almost a mousse, thick and tasty, redolent of banana. The bananas surrounding the pudding itself were covered in caramel and roasted vanilla wafers, turning the whole thing into one big plate of delicious diabetic coma.

I haven’t been this full, or this sated, in quite some time.

New ad copy reads: So good, it’s like an orgasm in your mouth!

Wait – that didn’t come out the way I had hoped. Back to the creative folks…

I’ve always been a fan of banana desserts…banana pudding, bananas foster, banana cream pie. I’ll have to make a note of this for the next time I’m in DC.

I’m a freak for bananas foster at Brennan’s. I’ve never been to the original location in New Orleans, but fondly remember the Dallas location as a kid and recently had one at the location on the Disneyland property.

The Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls near Austin has an amazing banana cream pie. They have amazing pies in general.

I used to live in that area, and that was my favorite restaurant. I always try to go when I come back – looks like I’ll have to save room for dessert. It may be a cameraphone photo, but it looks good enough for me!!
