If you're heading westwards, the Sheetz on Route 50 (eastbound) in Loudon County just before South Riding is a good deal.

And for those using Route 29 to go west/south, the Wawa (29, northbound) and the Raceway (29, southbound) in Gainesville have the cheapest gas I've found in the entire DC metro area.

This is an excellent site for finding the cheapest gas, however, I agree, I won't go out of my way to save a few cents. It's just not worth the time. BUT, when it gets over $5 per gallon, that might be a different story!

I won't go out of my way for just 3 or 5 cents a gallan, but the Shell (formerly Crown) on Route 7 by St. Anthony's is consistently some of the cheapest gas around. If I find myself heading that way, I generally try to hook up some cheap gas.

The Hess in Clarendon's usually a dime cheaper than the surrounding stations, and there's always the trick of getting gas when you're way the heck out of the metropolitan area...

Personally, the difference between paying $3/gallon and $3.25/gallon isn't a deal breaker. Now when it hits $6/gallon, that's another story.
