Costco: Cardboard Box Connection

While randomly shopping with the clock-stopping hottie, I came across this amazing find for anyone moving: Costco has mountains of boxes right by the cash registers, free for the taking.

When I was packing to move into the new abode, Costco became a cardboard box goldmine.

The Costco employees helped me dig out the right kind of boxes, sturdy ones not pre-made to be product display cases. I was able to scrounge about half my boxes and all the funky-shaped boxes I needed in this pile o’ dead trees.

If you wanna do the same, I have only one tip: guard your finds. Two other customers tried to swipe my cardboard while I was searching – the suburban thieves!

Oooooo… I need these! In college we had three grocery stores in walking distance and wouldn’t you know it that banana boxes are THE BEST to move with – great shape and size, and have handles.

But I’ll be scrounging my Costco for boxes now!

I would be careful how many boxes you take though – the shoppers may get upset since the boxes are technically there to pack up the stuff you buy!

In VA, the ABC stores will usually give you boxes. Also, Total Wine has a similar (although not nearly as messy) stack of boxes after the registers, free for the taking.

Just be careful of boxes that had food in it. You wouldn’t want uninvited “pests” in your new home. Sorry to be Debbie Downer. However, this is good to know.
