It’s Ticket Time, Folks

capnjack.pngMemorial Day Weekend. Blockbuster Movies. While everyone’s stuck in traffic tomorrow night getting an early start on the long weekend, I’ll be eating popcorn in the Balcony at the Uptown watching the new Pirates of the Carribean movie. You know you want to ditch the early escape traffic and do the same, so grab some tickets for the 8pm show, and we’ll see you there.

I’m going to punish the makers of Pirates by not going to see that movie in the theater. I know, they don’t care. But I do. Pirates 2 was the worst case of “Hey, there’s a third movie coming up, let’s just mail this one in” that I’ve ever seen.

Jon, the third movie really only proved necessary after they wrote the 2nd and had too much to fit into a single flick, so they divided 2 into 2 and 3.

No, I don’t believe that. First of all, the entire second movie could have been done in three or four minutes. Certainly they could have rolled that into part 3. And I don’t think for a second that they ever planned to only do two. Who only does two? Everything’s a trilogy.

And it’s too bad, because the first movie was actually pretty decent. Three-dimensional characters, believable motivations, appealing to kids as well as adults. The second movie was a colossal piece of crap. I suspect that the third will be tolerable.

    I completely agree with Jon.
