"underground or on-the-ground, just do it!" said a friend. my car is a wreck now, so i have no choice but agree with this siggestions. tysons is not a leasant walk. whatever you do, office buildings (reminder of cubes!) and malls (reminder of time-waste instead of a time-pass & nature) and huge roads (reminder of traffic jams at normal hours, or of your working around the traffic and getting bad looks at work, as a result that you work at weird hours)will still be there. alas... so, i better go to medowlarks for my walk.

Going ever so slightly off topic here into rant...

Although it would undoubtedly be better to have a tunnel, I'm more distressed by the fact that people seem to believe that Metro + Tyson's = walkable downtown for Fairfax County. If the goal is to make Tyson's more walkable, they need to cut the area up into chunks people are actually willing to walk. They also need to get rid of the feeder roads. Doing that would cost FAR less than $2 billion.

Yet the powers that be continue on with this "oh, if we just had $4 billion, Route 7 would instantaneously become NoVA's Champs-Elysees" fantasy.

Nothing warms my heart like strip malls. Unless it's lunch at TGI Friday's or Flinger's or somewhere.
