Great, so now we have a *third* method of paying for parking. I guess I don't need to worry about the dozens of meters which don't take my ParkSmart card now - but can I apply the balance to the iPark? Probably not.

Yeah, it's zone-specific. That said, running out to your car to reset your iPark is a lot better than running out to the store to get quarters to run out to your car to re-feed your meter.

That's sweet. Between that and the website that tells you where parking spaces are available, parking just got much easier.

I'd also like to have a laser that automatically zapped parking meter enforcement officers just as they were about to ticket my car.

Pay just for the minutes you've parked? That is extremely cool. But yeah, does it allow you to exceed time at limited-time meters?

Now THIS would be neat. From the FAQ:

"An iPark device can accommodate up to thirty-six meter zones. That means that multiple jurisdictions could be programmed into the same device. We'd like to see iPark adopted throughout the Washington, DC metro area. When other jurisdictions join the program, the Treasurer's Office will offer to replace existing iParks with new, multi-jurisdiction devices."

We need to get DC and Fairfax down with this deal.
