Blue Jeans for a Cause!

It’s getting close to Spring again (yeah, yeah, I know technically by date its Spring, but if I still need to wear mittens, it ain’t spring yet, baby), which for us politicos means it’s dinner season! You’ve got your award banquets, your conferences, the honoring of so-and-so and whats-her-name.

But what’s awesome is when you can go to a non-political event for an organization that does really great work, especially when it happens right in your back yard. What is a MAJOR bonus? When the dinner or event is creative, doesn’t look like every other dinner you’ve been to in the last five years, and it’s fun!

The Capital Area Food Bank serves thousands of homeless and hungry residents of DC each year through various programs and services. They do other outreaches around Christmas with adopting local children who otherwise wouldn’t get gifts as well. Their annual event is tomorrow and I’ll be going with a bunch of co-workers to the dinner, in which proceeds benefit the hungry that are living right on our blocks.

What is the creative part of the dinner you ask? How about how it’s called the annual “Blue Jeans Ball” – seriously, if I can go to an event and wear my fave jeans, I am there. Also, heaps of local chefs are donating to the cause and will be providing the grub for the night. All in all, I’m looking forward to the Blue Jean Ball and I’ll follow up with the DC-ites that come in the Saturday ‘blues.

No clue if they have tickets or spots left for the event, but check here for other ways you can help out this organization as well.

Oh – and if any MBDC readers or authors are going, let me know so I can see you there!
