Take the Green Living Challenge

One of the big problems with getting people live a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle these days is they always ask, “what’s in it for me?” Why bother turning your thermostat down just to save a few polar bears who’ve never done nothing for nobody? Well, Arlington County has finally decided to make being environmental worth your while. They’ve recently announced the Arlington Green Living Challenge. Basically you sign up and then track different environmentally friendly things you do. Then in October they tally everyone’s score and hand out prizes.

Now, they’re a little vague on what the actual prizes will be, so you might wind up with a years supply of tofu for your troubles, but everyone who enters will at least get a certificate that says they’re trying, and that goes a long way to reducing any guilty feelings you’ve got about this whole global warming business.
