Just because you don’t have it happen doesn’t mean it ain’t there.

Their pages have hidden iframes, which newer Firefoxes avoid apparently, but it’s at the base of their page in the Index and Links page and looks like this.

Clearly being too small to show anything they serve no purpose, but they include script to open new pages. Buried down in them are calls to load multiple script from revenue.net which is where the actual popups are generated.

Since they otherwise don’t use any frames there’s no reason to put this crap in other than to pop up ads. Which, I might add, they do not only on entrance but on exit. So if you close the box and navigate away you can look forward to seeing it again.

Funny, I opened the site in Safari and Firefox and got no pop-ups. I think your doing it wrong.

I am reminded of Dennis Miller’s comments that the problem with doing drugs isn’t the drugs themselves but the kind of doucebags you have to do them WITH. Amazing how often the open source community makes me think of that quote too.

I’m using Firefox 1.5.0.9, thank you, which still allows javascript to open popups, which is the method they’re using. My FF2 test machine does indeed block the popup.

That does not change my opinion that putting that kind of crap advertising on your website is offensive, however. If that qualifies as “bitching like a little girl” then so be it, but I’ll be accompanying it with voting with my dollar.

Opera does pop up blocking pretty much out of the box. And if you love IE so much, get 7.
