Enough with the Christmas Music Already!

Has anyone noticed that WASH-FM 97.1 seems to be playing only Christmas music? Good gracious – it’s like indoctrination. I don’t know what they usually play but I hope my wife isn’t upset when she discovers that I changed that radio setting to some all-Spanish station so at least we can have some musical variety.

Amen! And it’s not just the radio – ever since Thanksgiving the TV commercials have been nothing but Christmas related…

If I hear “Ding go the bells” one more time I may just do something drastic.

I second the comment about advertising.
If I hear “Every kiss begins with Kay” one more time, I will perforate my eardrums with a sharp pencil.

I was subjected to christmas music while in the chair at the dentist’s office today. Talk about insult + injury.

I love me some good Christmas music, but most of the stuff we hear now is complete and utter schlock.

Tom, you bring up a good point. Let’s get a little creative with the Christmas music if we are going to have it around. Enough with the old stuff. We need to hear more stuff like “Christmas in Hollis” and less of “Rudolph” or anything sung by Burl Ives.

I once got half-scolded for using Christmas in Hollis in a work christmas music mix….

Was it too Black for your workplace? How can someone object to that? It’s a great song, has no racially or sexually degrading language, doesn’t talk about drinking 40’s or smoking…

I’m stunned I’m the first to bring this up — WASH does this every Christmas, and it does pretty well for them.

    They’re normally “soft rock.”

Oh how I pity the fools without satellite radio. It’s a tiny fraction the cost of cable tv and improves your life and soul exponentially.

Can I get my Spanish station on satellite radio? I think it’s 99.1 or something. Cool stuff!

I know what you mean, Mike! I can get five stations of Xmas music this time of year on XM!

You guys are pathetic, don’t you have something better to do?

    Bob – actually, no.

Carl – Too black? Oh heavens no, I was working for a university at the time, certainly nothing could be too multicultural or ethnic for them. No, they just didn’t feel it was holiday-party enough. Mind you, I didn’t mind the result – it got me taken off responsibility for keeping the CDs rotating.
