It Lives … Out in those Woods!

This morning I was walking my dog along some of the wooded paths that run through northwest DC and something caught my eye — a deer leg hanging from a tree. Just the leg. It had been hung from a branch about six feet high. I didn’t see any of the rest of the carcass.

I can’t think of any natural explanation so I’m guessing someone did it because they thought it’d be cool (it did look pretty Blair Witch) or, less likely, a good Samaritan propped it up there so people like me wouldn’t have to wrestle it away from our dogs. I’ll never know.

And p.s. to the miscreant who carved “You Stink” into a tree near one of the path entrances: Right backatcha!

The deer was so much lighter without that leg. I hope it didn’t freak you out too much…
