You can’t spell Sousa without USA

Today is the 164th anniversary of the birth of D.C. native John Philip Sousa, one of the most popular muscians in human history. The March King wrote The Stars and Stripes Forever, The Liberty Bell, The Washington Post and dozens of other marches. Go ahead and celebrate by blasting Stars & Stripes Forever while driving across the Anacostia on Pennsylvania Ave.

Or go visit his grave at Congressional Cemetery off of Potomac Avenue SE. It is the perfect day for the visit. His grave is up the main road to the chapel and then take a right on the paved street. You can’t miss his marker and bench on the left.
