Is the DC Area Anti-Home Brew?

I went today to the Annapolis Home Brew Shop to get some supplies. A winter should never be entered into without adequate beer and wine and I am fixing to make both. One question though - are there no home brew places closer than Annapolis? It seems like there should be something closer but I couldn’t find it.

My cousin Chris says there’s also a really excellent store called Maryland Homebrew based in Columbia. Is it closer than Annapolis, maybe not.

And one in Fairfax with a website here http://www.jaysbrewing.com/

Tom’s cousin and Chris’ bro here, also the Beerfly Guide on BeerAdvocate for the area (I volunteered first, but am otherwise responsible for maintaining the database of beer-oriented places). The two places that Randy mention are the ones worth going to in NoVA. DC proper does not have a homebrew shop. You might also want to get in touch with the local homebrewing groups BURP and The Worthogs. I’m not a homebrewer myself, but I’ve run into members of both groups and they are good peeps.
