Cannibal supports Steele

The Michael Steele campaign learned yesterday that boxer Mike Tyson is supporting the Maryland Lt. Governor’s U.S. Senate bid.

“I would do anything to help Michael,” Tyson said in a telephone interview Monday night after holding a news conference in Ohio wearing a Steele T-shirt. “I would box an exhibition for him. I would even fight again to help Mike. I would do anything…”

…not all of Tyson’s controversies are in the past. Yesterday, while clad in the Steele shirt, he proclaimed his desire to fight women for money.

Tyson is perhaps best known for biting off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear and for saying that he wanted to eat Lennox Lewis’ children.

Steele knows Tyson from when his half sister was married to the boxer. The campaign did not make the candidate available to comment on the Tyson’s endorsement, but Steele did talk about his relationship with the fighter in The NY Times:

Steele said he would “welcome in a heartbeat” the boxer’s help, although Tyson has not done anything official for the campaign.

“He may be divorced from my sister, but I can’t cast him aside,” Steele told the Times. “You embrace. You love. . . . I’ve never sat in judgment of him, and I never would.”

Steele also wants you to know that he loves puppies.

He wants to fight women for money? Well, he does it as a hobby, it seems, so…

I wonder if eating Lennox Lewis’s children could help Steele get elected.
