LaVar Bowl I
This Sunday’s big divisional game against the Giants has a little added drama for the Redskins since they face their former teammate Mr. Nickles LaVar Arrington for the first time since his bitter departure. Though he went to three Pro Bowls in the burgundy and gold, Arrington wore out his welcome. In 2004 former All-American career at School of Hard Knocks Penn State accussed the Redskins taking $6.5 million off a contract:
“[M]e and my agent, we are Christian people and we were alluding to the fact that there were three sixes in the total of the contract,” Arrington said. “Three sixes, I think if you are a Christian you know what three sixes means. It is the mark of the devil.”
He had asked the team to tweak the numbers in the pact to “get those three sixes off,” Arrington told Brown. They did some tinkering and sent him, and not agent Poston, the reworked version. He signed it without talking to Poston, then later found out the three sixes were removed by removing the $6.5 million bonus.

The situation deteriorated from there before he was let go in the offseason after being benched for most of the 2005 season.
This week the mudslinging heated up with Skins CB Shawn Springs and linebackers coach Dale Lindsey taking shots at Arrington during press conferences:
Lindsey was asked Wednesday how much Arrington could help the Giants against his old team. Lindsey quipped, “None. He didn’t know anything when he was here. What makes you think he’ll know something up there?”
Arrington responded (NY Daily News) that “I do have your playbook. So if I didn’t understand it, I’m sure Coach (Tom) Coughlin can decipher it.”
With talk like this, who cares about T.O. going to Philly again?
