DMX: DC Woman Raped Me

By way of Circumlocutor comes today’s amazing WTF?!: Rap star DMX says he was raped by a DC woman that now has a child as a result of that encounter.

I guess that’s just how tough DC women are: they can rape 6 foot angry rap stars.

Is there anyone out there who believes this story for longer than a femtosecond?

Likely? No. However, is it really cool to say this didn’t happen without the facts? I hope we wouldn’t do that to a woman who made similar accusations. So what’s the difference?

Is it because he looks tough? Would we believe it more if he were a short, skinny white man? I think the fact of rape is that it’s not just a matter of physical force but of psychological and emotional power dynamics and assault. So if we believe that DMX is as human as we are, we should also allow him the leeway to be subject to emotions and being overcome by them in a way we don’t relate to.

I can’t imagine – you know – being “ready for action” if I did not want to be, but you never know what is possible until you experience it. So is it impossible? Certainly not, in my opinion. But is it likely? Again, no.

I’m just saying that if he couldn’t physically resist her, there’s no way he was gettin’ it up.

Since during a fight-or-flight response, blood is directed away from, uh, auxiliary systems and directed into muscles directly involved in fighting or running away, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that yes, it is pretty much impossible for a woman to overpower a man and rape him such that a pregnancy would result (this is not to say that other types of rape wouldn’t be possible in that situation, but none of those result in pregnancy). This isn’t about gender politics, Carl, this is about simple biology.

It *might* be possible through the use of date-rape drugs or something- if she was a creepy stalker that wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility.

Yeah – this is a phenomenon that I don’t understand, but apparently it happens sometimes. To me it’s about as mysterious as the philosophical problem of God being both perfect and jealous. It just doesn’t jive.
