Capitals name new captain

This afternoon the Washington Capitals officially named Chris Clark as team captain. Clark has the honor of wearing the “C” until Alex Ovechkin is ready to assume the leadership role in a year or two. The previous captain, Potomac native Jeff Halpern, became the latest in a long line of Caps captains to leave the trade through free agency or trade.

Training camp begins on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Ashburn Ice House. Single game tickets go on sale on Saturday at 10 a.m. Opening Night at Verizon Center is October 7.
