Terry Quinn was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD. He graduated from Blair High School and joined the DC police force in the late 80s. After eight somewhat colorful years on the force his career as a policeman came to an end when he shot an out-of-uniform fellow officer in a confusing altercation. Being cleared of wrong-doing doesn’t necessarily mean you get to keep your job when you’ve skipped your mandatory 6-month range qualifier four times and racked up some questionable notes in your employment file, however, so Terry followed up law enforcement by spending the subsequent two years working in a used book & record store.
That career came to an end once detective and soon-to-be collaborator Derek Strange came into his life, investigating the shooting of Officer Chris Wilson at the behest of Wilson’s mother, who isn’t convinced things were as race-neutral and accidental as the board in inquiry decided. Although Terry might have a stereotypical Irish hot temper and not be as color-blind as he’d like to convince others, he didn’t murder Chris Wilson. Working with Strange to find the deeper truth behind the incident that ended his law enforcement career brings Terry back into the crime solving business as a private investigator, and since then he’s continued to be a partner to the man who originally turned a skeptical eye his way, Derek Strange.
