if you left early…then you missed it
I was very fortunate to have a good friend invite me to the Nationals – Phillies game last night. He definitely hooked me up with some great seats.
While the first 7 innings led Phillies fans to believe they would be taking the win, the Nats rallied through the final three innings – particularly the 10th – and were able to win off a wild pitch! The sparse crowd of Nats fans were on their feet nearly the entire 9th and 10th inning – and the notorious smack-talking Philadelphia fans were reduced to cheering “lets go Steelers” (seriously!) when the Nationals came from behind to clinch the victory.
Apparently DC fans brought the verbal pain too. In fact, I would like to public ally call out Shane Victorino for being a sissy-bag. A Nats fan right behind the Phillies dugout said something as the team was coming in off the field late in the game. I didn’t hear the exact words, but it was probably something to the effect of “you suck.” I guess Victorinio couldn’t handle the prospect of missing a potential wildcard opportunity – so it must have really hurt his feelings (*sniff*). He actually called over the CSC Event Management people, pointed the guy out in the crowd, and almost had him ejected from the game.
What an asshole. I mean, if the fan had thrown something at him – I would completely understand. But if you are a professional athlete, FROM PHILLY EVEN, and you can’t handle some good natured heckling, you should retire now.
Peanuts, beer, and cracker jacks never tasted so good.
