Nats handover delayed

From the “It is always something” department — It looks like the magic MLB press release saying that the Lerners are now owners of the Nationals will have to wait. washingtonpost.com is reporting problems between the league and the city have flared up again:

Major League Baseball has declared the District government in default of the lease agreement for the new stadium, charging that the city has failed to meet several deadlines for turning over critical documents.

Once again, MLB’s timing is impeccable the “Grand Reopening” is just about 30 hours away.

Mark H. Tuohey, chairman of the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission, believes it will be taken care of soon:”

There are some issues where there are disagreements. We’re working them out,” Tuohey said. “Most of it will be done by the end of day.”

Documents are being finalized to sent to MLB shortly.

Someday it will be just be about baseball, right?
