a hazmat afternoon

The DC hazmat team has just shut down Vermont between L street and Scott Circle.

No word on why, I got a curt “hazmat” when I asked and all the buildings on the block are in lock down.

Anyone know more?

The brick building with the black windows in the upper center of the photo houses DHS advanced research project agency (HSARPA). Maybe something the made got out….

Got a vague update from a cop on the scene – they found a mysterious powder in the basement of a building on the block. No word which building though.

Update on the Closure: The suspicious white powder, found in vials at the DHS building, turned out not to be dangerous even though the fire department still doesn’t know what it was and gave samples to the FBI for further tests.
