Dubya vs. Taylor?
According to WBJ, Pursuant, a local research firm will conduct a focus group this evening to compare the voting habits of American Idol fans tuning in to tonight’s finale to those of voters during the presidential election.
What Pursuant will in turn do with these results is not reported. Images of the 2008 Presidential Election are springing to mind, most containing Dubya in a pretty, French gown, softly crooning “Tonight’s the Night”. I imagine the panel of judges before him consisting of John Glover Roberts, Jr., Simon, and of course Condi.
Picture the scene:
Dubya smoothes down his gown after choking on his chosen number.
Simon (sternly eyes Dubya’s chosen frock): “Dubya, this wasn’t your best effort, now was it?”
Dubya: “Well no Simon, I’m afraid it wasn’t. At least I have pretty shoes!”
Simon: “Shoes aren’t going to get you another four years in the White House.”
Dubya (girlish giggle): “At least I can go out in style.”
Roberts (proceeds to burst into tears)
Condi (on stage, stomping on Dubya’s toes with those dominatrix-style, black, leather boot and belting out a rendition of “I’m Every Woman”).
Hello to the imagery! But what I’d really like to see is the Presidential voting habits of American Idol watchers as compared to those of people who eschew ‘reality’ shows.
