This is a good weekend to end your Nats apathy

If going to RFK for some baseball is no longer enough by itself, this weekend presents another reason — SPITE. Starting tomorrow night, our Nationals host Balmer’s Orioles at RFK in the Battle of the Beltway(s). This should be a friendly little series between geographic interleague rivals, but unfortunately, O’s owner Peter Angelo$’ continued attempts to kill the Nats in the crib or at least cripple them makes it well…PERSONAL. Just to refresh your memory, Angelo$ has been against D.C. baseball for years, claimed there were no fans in Washington D.C. in 2004, and acquired the Nats TV rights in order to subsidize his team because apparently, he does not believe that Baltimoreans are good enough fans.

Since we cannot each lock Angelo$ in a room and yell at him (“I want my Nats TV!” “why are you such a cowardly businessman?!” “How is your friend Fidel doing?”) until he cries, we just have to settle for loudly cheering the team he has tried to kill in the crib and boo his team. Everytime an Oriole comes to the plate, boo them. Boo their fans when they yell “OOOOOOOOOO” during the National anthem. Boo them all the time. Chant ANN-NA, ANN-NA when Birds pitcher Kris Benson is on the mound Friday night.

Gametimes are 7:05 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are available online (better print them yourself, rather than go to will call) and at the RFK Stadium box office, which is open today until 5 p.m. and tomorrow through game time.
