UPDATE: Barry in minor accident, failed field sobriety test

Channel 4 is reporting that Councilman Marion Barry (D, Ward-8) was involved in a traffic accident last night.

Police have not released any information about the accident but Barry said a sport utility vehicle sideswiped his car at First and K streets in southeast Washington.

The former mayor then drove off, apparently uninjured.

UPDATE: The Post reports that police issued Barry a citation for failure to yield. No sobriety test was given.

UPDATE 2: Apparently, there was more to the story than first reported. Both articles I linked to above indicated that Barry failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. He passed a blood alcohol test and was released.

WFY: Is Barry’s failing a sobrity test really news worthy? That should be along the lines of “August is hot in DC”

Heather – too true, this is for sure one of those “Hey, don’t be on my side, huh?” moments.
