More Patio Bars!

In reading the Definitive Patio Bar List comments, it struck me that Bin Round is right, we need to look beyond the usual suspects:

There must be more! How about Capitol Hill or Columbia Heights? Anyone know of good places there? Other than G’town and GWU, any places near the schools in the area?

Last night I stumbled home from one of my favorite places, Wonderland Ballroom after a great time in their new pet-friendly outdoor Beer Garden. Yep, a great Beer Garden in Columbia Heights. Who knew?

Well now you do. And we should all know – where are more Patio Bars? Add your new ideas to the Definitive Patio Bar List.

It looks like no one wants to give up their secret “hideaway”. Who’d want to have “outsiders” ruin their little paradise, where you can actually get a table and have a conversation with the waitress who isn’t as rushed?

Well, for the sake of the list, here’s a great place for beer and crabs – “Quarterdeck” in Rosslyn. It’s hidden in the hill overlooking Iwo Jima next to Ft. Myer.

Yes it is located on the other side of the river for you DC folks. You can still get there by metro but it involves walking up a hill but it’s worth it. It’s got a huge patio but the place can get busy, esp. when you are hankering for crabs and refreshing Bud Lite.

If you want crabs, don’t forget to call ahead to ensure your order for a bushel of crabs. Beer is always available.

Quarterdeck’s a good crab destination but watch the weather if you want to sit outside – their covered area is at best 25% of the seating.
