Fran O’Brien’s closing

WUSA-TV reports that Fran O’Brien’s Stadium Steakhouse in the Capital Hilton is closing soon.

For over 2 years the restaurant, founded by the late Fran O’Brien, a former Redskin, has been serving wounded veterans from Walter Reed Hospital free steaks on Friday nights. The restaurant has become a home away from home for vets undergoing treatment.

Hilton claims the decision to end the relationship with Fran O’Brien’s is a business decision.

I caught a piece on this on Channel 4 last night, and in the lead in they said something like “Some say the closing is related to the Friday night dinners.” Why would the Hilton hate disabled veterans so much? But they never made the connection, quoting only the “business decision” by Hilton. Terrible.

Let’s hope all who read or learn of Hilton’s decison regarding Fran O’Brien’s will chose accomodations other than Hilton in whatever city they visit–for business AND pleasure. My family certainly will!!
    Spread the word!!!!!!!!!!!

Fran O’Brien’s last dinner for the wounded service men and women wil be this Friday on 28th — this Friday,. There will be many Viet Nam Vets who are very upset about this on so many levels. I am married to a Viet Nam combat Veteran Marine, and we have volunteered bar-tended on many occasions. OK, so I know where my husband is on a Friday night. hahah. give me some laughs here… I was the redhead behind the bar, with my husband, — we’re a really great team!!!

YEAH, OK, so I am the redhead behind the bar in the banquet room who is with my husband and we just volunteer bartend….

    REALITY:

Many “older” Veterans have already cut up their Hilton cards and will never patronize a Hilton again.

These Viet Nam War Veterans do not want to see these young people going through what they went through.

    Let’s call the media!
