Express trains? On Metro? No way. Noooo HWAAAY

To the delight of Nats fans and possible disgust of yesterday’s commuters, Metro is running express trains on the Orange Line between Metro Center and Stadium-Armory prior to today’s Nats opening day game.

Starting at 11:30 a.m., select Orange Line trains traveling to New Carrollton will operate express starting from Metro Center, with a stop at L’Enfant Plaza to Stadium-Armory prior to the game. Passengers should listen carefully as the rail operator will make announcements advising fans they are on a special express train from Metro Center to Stadium-Armory making a stop at L’Enfant Plaza. Once the train arrives at Stadium-Armory, the train will continue onto New Carrollton making all stops.

After the game, there will be Metro buses leaving from Stadium-Armory for Union Station — good news for Red Line riders. Here is the press release from WMATA. Also, additional trains, including some eight-car trains, will be deployed to help clear out the Stadium-Armory platform.
